No idea why the idea hasn’t kicked off in Melbourne, but set on the bustling rainbow that is Sydney’s Oxford Street, sits Mr Crackles, a store dedicated to everything Pork, and even better, the Crackling.
There’s plenty to choose from, but we opted for the Crackles Classic ($13.0) crispy pork w/ viet salad. It was pretty damn fantastic. Usually I hate crackling due to the grease, evident fat and sometimes chewiness, but this was done perfect. Crunchy, just the right amount of salt, fat and pork flavour. The pork shreds itself were juicy and tender, whilst the viet salad was nicely pickled. The baguette was crispy and crunchy and will definitely fill you up. The perfect hangover food. Next time I return, I’m gonna try everything on the menu, but maybe opt for just the meat ($6/100g) cos who wants to kid themselves and fill up on the extras.
